Description
Two-story frame building. Split space with storefront in the front end and apartments in the back half of the building. Currently occupied by the same mixed-use lot from modern business as 77 Ridge Road.
Detailed History
Owned and managed by a Walter Merriweather (1911-1996), who in the 1940 Census was 29 years old and listed as married to Lena Merriweather (28) with a young son, Walter Jr. Before the war, the census listed him as a laborer at the steel mill in Lackawanna. Beginning in 1947, his restaurant appeared in the Green Book. The restaurant advertised "Steaks Chops Chicken our Speciality" in the 1947 Lackawanna High School yearbook.
