Detailed History
The Metropolitan Tailors operated out of a house on the north side of 10th Street east of Gaines Street. It is not known how accurate the dates for this property are in the Green Book. Although the property at 618 West 10th Street is shown on the 1939 Sanborn maps, by the 1950 map the property was gone and a classroom for St. Philips Episcopal Church had been built.
