The 1966/7 Green Book issue includes an advertisement: “M.L. Weaver Tourist Home; Rest Accommodations All Hours; Phone: ME4-2594; Reasonable Rates; 115 Main Street; Emporia, Virginia.”
Emporia has a North Main Street and a South Main Street. 115 North Main is now Gaston Security, a building that looks more like an old gas station than a tourist home. 115 South Main does not exist. There is a post office at 109 South Main and the Emporia Farmers Market at 101-177 South Main. Across from the post office is a big parking lot. North Main may be the more likely site, as the African American part of town was north of the river. Photo depicts Gaston Security at 115 North Main.
