Detailed History
Name listed in 1930 Hackley and Harrison's Guide for Colored Travelers. This house was owned by Homer Moore (b.1870), a longtime railroad worker and native of Missouri, and his wife Roxie Moore (1883-1943), a Tennessee native who worked as a laundress from home. The African-American couple had lived on University in 1920 and Sevier in 1910 and 1930, and had moved to East State Street by 1940. Records do not indicate that they had children and are buried in the Murfreesboro's Benevolent Cemetery.
