Detailed History

There was a reference in an advertisement for a homecoming game in a 1931 newspaper. It was owned by Richard H. Slacter in 1955. The fixtures were sold in 1957. The building was demolished by 1961. The highway was widened and the Twin Cities Opportunities Industrial Center was built to the south.

The North Side Inn moved to 546 6th Ave N. (or Olson Memorial Highway) when it was owned by Rodger Benton. Then James T. Fuller became a co-owner by 1959. It reopened in 1960 by Fuller as the Regal Tavern. Fuller was a well-known African American businessman who owned the Riverview Supper Club and Cozy Bar & Lounge. The Regal Tavern building was demolished after 1972.
