Description

Tuxedo was located in a one-story building with a composition roof according to a 1925-51 Sanborn map. The building height from the ground to the roof was 12 feet. A one-and-a-half story room extended from the main building to the rear and also had a composition roof. A two-story section extended still further to the rear of the lot and had a composition roof as well. At the very back of the structure was a small one-story room with a non-combustible roof covering of metal, slate, tile or asbestos. The building was located on the south side of William between Michigan and Union.

Detailed History

One of the many Green Book sites on Willliam Street, Tuxedo sat on the same block as Modern's and Clover Leaf. Little Harlem was across the street. New developments have since been built on the lot.
