Description
Walker’s at 149 Adams Street was a two-story dwelling, with single story porches, bay, and rear entry to the eastern and southern sides of the dwelling. The building was of wooden frame construction, with a non-combustible tile or metal roof. There was an additional single-story garage behind the dwelling.
Detailed History
Today, Walker’s no longer exists. This property and the neighborhood around were destroyed and rebuilt during Rochester’s urban revitalization projects in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Note that most of the streets in this area have since been renamed, and addresses renumbered. The land where Wailker’s stood is now adjacent to the Mt. Oliviet Baptist Church (141 Adams Street).
