Detailed History

Owned by a Jewish man named Louis Zarin from at least 1946-1965. Liquor licenses were in both Louis and Leo Zarin’s (Louis’s brother) names throughout this period. In 1967, the liquor license was granted to Kleban M. Hodges, and the stores name was changed to J. C. Liquor Store. It remained J.C. Liquor Store until at least 1972. Between 1946 and 1972, the liquor store was robbed and burglarized at least half a dozen times. The address is no longer associated with a building. This location is listed in the 1947 and 1948 issues as a liquor store, as a nightclub in 1949 and a tavern in the 1954 and 1955 issues.
