Description

The site is currently occupied by a McDonald's, and the rest of the block is occupied by the Hempstead Village Commons Shopping Mall.

Detailed History

Operated as a tavern during the Green Book era, the building is listed on a Sanborn map of the town from 1919 as a two-story frame building with a brick facade. There is a single-story addition on the back with a non-combustible roof covering. The building is listed as being part of a set of “Negro Tenements.” However, as of 2023 no information about ownership could be found from the census or advertisements.
