Washington City May 18th/65
 
Sister Sarah.
                        I received your letter some days ago thought I would not answer it immediately for I did not know but what I should be home in a fiew days I had made calculations on being home by the first of June but I hardly think now that I shall but you can look for me in the course of three or four weeks at the furthurest I shall be discharged here as soon as the old Regiment goes home and I expect that will be soon after the review
 
            We are still at the Theatre and I expect to stay here untill I am discharged Put stopped to see me on his way to the Regiment he just got back in time to march back again the Regiment is now lying at Baleys cross roads I think some of going over there I saw Lieut Petit / the other day he sayed that the Regiment would go home in a fiew days
 
Well I shall not write a very long letter this time if you answer this soon I think it will be the last one you will have to answer
