Alexandria Jan 8 1864.
 
Dear Sister
 
Your letter came to hand about two hours ago it came unexpectted as I did not expect it so soon I have been examined once sence I came here I am afraid I shall have to go in the Invilade Corps their are about about three thousand in this camp a great many get their discharge sometimes sixty or seventy get their discharge in one day and a great many are put in the Invilade Corps they are sent here from all / the Hospitals to go to their Regiments but more get their discharge than go four got their discharge out of this room yesterday and three to day some of them look as if their was nothing the matter of them at all I shall volunteer to go to the Regiment before long I do not want to go in the Invilade Corps if I can help it they will let no man go to the Regt unless he is perfectly sound I heard have that that Em Cline had been arrested Horatio Benjamin told me the other day that he had that heard that he had married his sister but he did not hardly believe it to day he got a letter from home and I guess he believes it now. 
 
their is about three inches of snow here the weather is verry pleasant it was verry muddy when I came here but it is froze up now the weather is not verry cold I do not like it here verry well we cannot get any passes and have to stay in camp all the time
