Milo A. Jones to Sarah A. Jones, 11 March 1864
Gresboro Point
Washington, DC.
March 11/64.
Sister Sarah
Your letter came to hand day before yesterday and I see it has been a great while on the way our mail does not come regular yet I wrote to George Goodrich some time ago but I have not an answer yet. The weather is quite stormy it has been raining for three days wich makes it very muddy and nasty but as it hapens all our guard duty is under cover and we dont have to / stand out in the storm
You wrote that Alf Edwards was home I should like to see him. March 13.
I am a great while answering your letter but It is Sunday and I came off guard this morning and I feel so lazy that I am not going to write you a verry long letter You wanted to know if H Benjamin was here with me he is over to the Convalescent Camp in annother Company and I have not seen him since we left there.
I wrote about haveing some shugar but you need not send any their is no regular Express here and I could not get it without a good deal of trouble and so I will not / have any sent
It begins to rain hard and the wind blows verry hard and I think we are going to have a stormy night. I have not had any pay yet but I think we will get it this month some time.
Well I must close excuse this awful letter and write soon.
