Charles E. Leland to Charles M. Leland and Martha C. Leland, 11 August 1861
Camp Independance Aug 11th 1861

Dear Father & Mother.
I have been sick ever since I left Jersey City, and am now just able to get about.

I want you should send me some money right off, as soon as you receive this, as I have had to use all that I had. I am going to be examined by the Doctor as soon as he comes over to the camp and if I do no he does not think I can stand it I shall be sent home. I am not very well yet and can not write a very long letter. It is very hot out here.

How are Henry and Ada. Kiss Ada for me and tell her that perhaps I may come home soon.

I have been home sick some.

I want you should write me a long letter, and write as soon as you receive this.

From your Affectionate son
Chas E. Leland

Please send me some Postage Stamps and papers.
