Robert R. Corson to George G. Rockwood, 25 June 1862
June 25th 1862
Geo. G. Rockwood, Esqr
839 Broadway N.Y.
Dear Sir.
Yours of yesterday was recd and I have examined the list at the Genl Hd. Qrts. but find no such name as "Corpl. John Loughran Co F 57 N.Y.V." which I regret very much. Please say to his sister that in addition to the eight Govt. Hospitals here / we have two private ones here which I will visit myself this afternoon and see if he is there.
After I found his name was not on the list at Hd. Qrs. I sent up to the Broad & Cherry St Hspital to see if his name had been [?] there. Many of those wounded at "Fair Oaks" were sent to Annapolis, Baltimore and Yorktown.
Should he be in this city I will find him and let you know at once, and will call on him to find his condition. His sister may feel sure that if he is in any of our City Hospitals he will be well cared for for they are in splendid order.
Hoping I may be able
to find him
I remain
Yours truly
Robt R. Corson
P.S. 5 PM.
Just recd and he
is not at Broad & Cherry
