Dear brothers sisters
friends & every boddy I take my seat to night to write you a few lines which will let you know that we are all well at presant hoping this may reach you & find you all enjoying the same blessing of health
Levi I recieved your kind & much appreciated letter which I red with pleasure but was sorry to hear of you all being sick but was glad to hear that you was getting better
Sunday morning as I am by myself I thought I would finish my letter yesterday evening puss & mary & molly went to Mrs Calhoons to stay all knight & this morning Mr Peevey & gorge Will left for the prairie as usal Levi times is vary tight here now if you buy a little old piece of caleco you have to pay about three times as much for it as it is worth soda 30cts per pound & every thing else in propoteon that we have to buy & no snuff in Waxahachie at all so you see I am in sich a fix you know I had rather do without my dinner than snuff I sent 75 miles for the last that I got & have sent 150 for some more & the next moove / I expect I will have to send back thare if every thing is plenty write to me & let me know wheather it is or not & what put you out of the notion of coming to Texas you disapointed the children sadly by not coming this fall but Marg & Moll still looks for you & aunt Call the talk mity often about what they will do when you get here Moll says utle Levi will fetch her a bid appe & Marg says she knows he will fetch her a new dress they get to talking about you all sometimes & get in such a way I believe they think you will be here in a short time I tell them sometimes we will all go back to see you all next fall & you never saw children so well plesed Molly will ask me mity often what sort of a dress she will war bat to Alabama she thinks she is going to be rite off but if money doant get more plenty than it is now I am afraid it will be a long time before we have the pleasure of making the trip I still live in hopes some of you will come to see us before we come back thare I think you ought to pay the first visit we have had a vary pleasant fall cool weather but not cold we have had rite sharp / frost 2 or 3 mornings & a little ice but the prairie is still green thoug cattle is not doing vary well this fall we have lost 7 head in about a month that we know of & I doant know wheather that is all or not we have about 100 & 60 or 50 head & doant see them all often Levi we had heard Martha was married before we received your letter Mr Peevey went down town one evening & got his paper & couldent take time to read it till he came home & then in looking over it I found her mariage advertised & he jumped up & you never saw a fool cut up so in your he made me almoast jump off my chair & then he went on I cant tell you how long before I could get any sense out of him & at last he red Martha marriage tell Martha & dock to come to Texas & make a fortune while they are young Levi Mr Peevey never got the letter you wrote to him about that Douglas matter & as he hasent wrote lately we suppose he has got his money Cal beg Levi to come to Texas ware you can get pecons we have 2 or 3 bushel in the house now & I am going pecon hunting some day before long & their is no telling how many we will get so come over we killed a beef a few days ago & we will live fat while the beef lasts write soon & often all of you & doant wait for me
