Dear Friends Father & Mother & all
Today finds me again with my Regt and well and find all the rest of the boys well to.
I got here last knight late in the evening and found several of the boys here waiting for me and when I got here they met me with almost as much animation as the folks at home did because they wanted to hear from home.
Father after I left Horrace at the Forks I took the stage to Keesville and then found that the stage did not go to Plattsburg till the next morning so I was going to miss the first train if I stade thare all knight so I hired a man to carry me thare that knight / and paid him 3.00. got thare time enough to git my transportation all made out that knight and staid thare till the next morning at six oclock then took the train for New york got thare the next morning at daylight went to the Soldiers rest and got my breakfast and then went to the quarter Masters Ofice to git my transportation and who should I see thare but Wayne which I very quick went up and spoke to and talked as fast as we could till I had to go then I came came South and he I supose went North I came down to Baltimore got thare Saturday evening and had to stay thare till Monday morning then started for here
Now I will tell you how the weather is here the snow here is about 3 inches deep and a good deal warmer than it is thare
Mother the box has not got here yet and but I am not very particular how / soon it comes though for you hurt me wonderfully when I was up thare from eating Goverment rations but I guess I will git along when I have a few good knights rest on my old bunk. it seemed good and natural again last knight I tell you I rather have one such knights rest than a dozen such ones as you gave me in the bed up stairs.
the Regt has not been paid off yet so I expect to get paid when they do but I cant think of much more to write at this time so I will have to close and I will put this into the envelop you sent with the directions all on and let it go back.
write as soon as you can. the boys were very well pleased with the things you sent in thare & kneedle cushions
know more for this time
from your ever true Son till
Death
