Tryphena Stickney (maiden name: Trumbull) was born around 1811 in New York. She married Austin Torrance, and they had at least five children: Sarah Ann, born around 1831; Mary, born around 1833; Herman, born around 1837; Harriet, born around 1839; and Ira, born around 1841. Her husband died in 1845. The family lived in Jay, New York. She married George Washington Stickney in the 1850s. He was a farmer who owned $1,500 of real estate and $520 of personal property by 1860. She died in 1869.
