Dear Father & Mother
As I have a little time this morning and feel as tho I ought to write to you so you will know I am well and still in the land of the living wall Mother after having a raid of just one month we have arived here right in front of Petersburgh I guess we will see fun before long by the mooves The rebs tryed to throw shells in our colume when we come by but could not I probaly shall see Cyrel here for he is in the 8th Corps and they lay only a short distance from here
I dont know how long we will stay here but I dont think we will stay long I think we will make a raid on that Danvill rail road and probly will see some hard fighting It is nice wether here the mud has all dryed up and it begins to look like spring the boys are all well from Jay I must close
I will write to you again tomorrow if we dont moove
