Dear Father & Mother
To day finds me time to pen a few lines to you but not in answer to any I have received from you I have not had no letters from you since I was to the white house and that was the 25th of March but I supose you are not to blame for they go to the reg
Mother what do you think of the rebels now dont you think they are about gone up you ust to say that they would hold out as long as they had a man but I guess they will have to / give up before long I dont think that thare will be much more fighting only some bush whacking and that will soon play out Mother I should like to hear from you and know that you ware well and then I should feel better about it I am well and tough as I ever was in my life I supose that you are geting redy for springs work I probly shant be thare to help this spring I guess I wont be thare before fall to help dig potatoes I just received a letter from wallace he sayd he was doing well and feeling first rate /
