City Point Apr 1st 1865
Dear Father & Mother
with pleasure I will write you a few lines to let you know I am well and injoying my self very well I am to Dismounted camp my horse was stoled the night before the armey mooved on towards the Danvill rail road so I come back here to get a new horse I came here day before yesterday and expect to go back to day or to morrow I hope so at least for I had rather be with the regiment I saw Cyrel the other day he is well and fat Mother I had / the pleasure of siting down to a table once more I bought my diner yesterday to a boarding house had evry thing I called for It seamed odd for it was the first table I have eat to since I come away I forgot to take off my hat I had not been use to it But then you know I alwase like to ware my hat to home
Mother the boys are all well or was day before yesterday but I here they are fighting very hard up whare I come from but it may be a false report I probly will know to day or to morrow if I get a horse and I think I will I saw president Linchol and grant here the president is here now he has been / reviewing the army
Mother I have got quite rested since the raid I was pretty well tired out when I got round but am all right now I must close and go back to my tent I am in the christian commishen offis whare they alow Soldiers to write
