Lucy E. Smith
Lucy E. Smith was born on November 5, 1842, in Jay, New York, to Sylvester and Lucinda Smith. Her father was a farmer who owned $250 of personal property by 1860. She grew up and attended school in Jay. She married Ira A. Torrance around 1864, and their son Fred was born around 1878. They lived in Jay, and her husband worked as a farmer. By 1870, they owned $1,200 of real estate and $700 of personal property. Her husband died on December 13, 1905. She moved to Au Sable Forks, New York, around 1911, and she died of pneumonia there on March 11, 1928.
