Dear parents Sisters & friends
I take my pen in hand to inform you that I am well hearty and fat and hope these few lines may find you in good health I am in a good company from johnson County capt Allison Lieut Kane Cane in the 17th regi I was inspected & sworn in this evening at 4 oclock 5 regims has left camp morton and 1 regim has left the Barracks in the last 3 days I havent been in the guard yet it is getting late So no more at present
