Mary Young (maiden name unknown) was born around 1819 in Indiana. She married Amaziah Young on August 27, 1840, in Ripley County, Indiana. They had at least four children: George, born around 1841; Rebecca, born around 1844; Elizabeth, born around 1851; and Rachel, born around 1855. They lived in Otter Creek, Indiana, and her husband worked as a farmer.
By 1850, they owned $600 of real estate. In 1860, her husband was living in his brother Ira’s household in Otter Creek, while Young and their children were living in Brown, Indiana. Her husband served in the Union army from 1861 until 1863. They had reunited in Shelby, Indiana, in the 1860s, and by 1870, they owned $4,500 of real estate and $500 of personal property. She and Amaziah got divorced in the 1870s. She died sometime after 1870.
