George W. Young to Mary Young and Sister, 11 May 186X
May the 11th
Camp in the woods near Corinth

Dear Mother. I take the present opportunity to address you a few lines hopeing they may find you in good health. I am in excellent health at present myself

I got a letter from you a few days ago it stated you was all sick but I hope you are all well before this time. you said you wanted me to write oftener and I would have written oftener but we have not been allowed to mail any letters for the last two weeks until this morning we got orders to send off all our letters between this and dark and I believe we will attact the town tomorrow yesterday we moved up within 5 miles of Corinth and we / are ordered not to pitch a tent nor unload any wagons only what has to go back after grub So all things looks like the ball will open in the morning we have got an awful lot of men here and I think we can clean them out easy Michells force has come up on the left of Corinth and I suppose it will be in the fight and the 37th is with them I guess. I heard yesterday that the 18th and 22ond was within two miles of us but I cant get to go and see any of the boys as we are not allowed to leave our Companies at all

I received a letter from uncle milt about a week ago and if I have time I am going to write to him this evening /

Dont be uneasy about me for I think I will come out all right

So no more at present forever yours
George W Young
