George W. Young to Mary Young, 17 October 1861
Huttonville Randolph Co Va oct. 17th
Dear Mother in Rebeccas letter I wrote yesterday I stated I was not very well I think I feel some better to day. I was out on drill yesterday this morning and I was just out to pitch the Colonels tent. it is beginning to rain and I guess there will be no drill this evening. I thought when we first come here that our brigade would go to kentucky or some other place but now I guess we will have to stay here all winter and I wouldent wonder if we had to attact a secesh camp about 30 miles from here before a week the mail did not come yesterday but it will be certain to come to morrow and then I think I will get two or three letters tell uncle George and uncle Milt and uncle John I want them to write me a letter apiece and write as often as you can. yours affectionately
George W Young /
Give my love and best respects to Grand father and Mother and all the rest of them
