Dear Mother
I received your letter of the 10th this morning and was glad to hear from you all. I am well as usual and hope these few lines may find you in good health. 4 days ago we got marching orders and crossed green river on an old raft and marched 10 miles down the river and are now encamped opposite munfordsville within half a mile of the rail road the 39th and 37th regts have gone on towards boling green in advance of us but I cant tell how soon we will follow them to day is the rainiest day I ever saw and we have to sleep in the water up to our ears when we are being down. I got a letter from uncle milt a few days ago and also one from Joab he sent me some postage stamps. I think we will move south on the cars as soon as the rail road is fixed past Boling green and then I think / the war will be brought to a close in the course of 18 months or 2 years we have no cold wether here but the rainiest wether I ever saw I got that cough sirup and it done me a great deal of good what I have taken of it about one half. Our regt has not been payed off yet and I dont know whether it ever will be or not I rather think old Sams money is about out I wish the war had come to a close this winter so I could have got home and raised a crop although I think it was fathers place to have stayed at home and done it himself if he makes any calculations of taking care of the family whatever
well we have just now got marching orders and ordered to take 7 days rations I cant tell where we are going take care of yourselves and do the best you can I will mail this as / soon as I can. Give my love to all and write often as you can Yours Affectionately
G W Young
