Dear Mother
I take my pen in hand to inform you that that I am well at present and hope these few lines may find you in good health.

We are now at Tuscumbia about 45 miles from Corinth it is a nice place and we have plenty of good water, which is something we have not had here to fore. I have had my health very well for the last month or so. I have seen some of the nicest Country I ever saw fine cotton plantations but all in corn. I wrote to Rebecca a few days ago and got a / letter from you yesterday I will write oftener than I have been doing but I have not had time to write very often. Tell Uncle Geo to tell Geo. W. Johnson of versailes that I saw and talked with his brother that lives in Iuka Miss. he is liveing there now and getting along fine. he sends his love to George and his family. I have heard nothing from the 37th Ind since I first came to pittsburg landing if it is at hunsville I may hear from it soon

you must write to me soon and if you know the locality of the 37th 22ond 18th or 13th send me word / if Bill Miner has bot back tell him I would like to hear from him I have got nearly as stout as ever and like soldiering better than ever and if the rebellion is settled soon I will go to mexico or join the texan rangers or some other foll fool thing for I think I always will be too lazy to work

if you have hard times or need anything I have got do what you please with them. Give love and respect to all. No more at present but rem yours
