Lewis C. Randall to David Stanway, 19 July 1863
Ypsilanti July 19th 1863
Friend Stanway
I am now at home and although suffering considerably from my wound still I am much better off than many a Soldier that took a part with us in that Battle
I stayed in Baltimore till the 15th inst and then came home by the way of Harrisburg Pittsburgh &c. I did not go to Philadelphia
I want you to forward to me at this place what mail may come to the Regt. for me Please speak to Judd about it and have him forward my letters to me
If Pinckney has not sent my Trunk to Baltimore as I requested him to do I will be very much obliged to you if you will try to save it for me till I join the Regt. I am now too weak to leave home but as soon as I get a little more strength I intend to visit some of your friends & I will then write you about them
My journey has been rather hard on me and I do not feel as well as I did when I left Baltimore There is a good deal of inflamation in my head & I may yet have a serious time of it
Daniel you must excuse a short line this time and when my head gets level I will write more that will be interesting to you
My best wishes to the the Old 1st and my love to you
Yours truly
L. C. Randall
