Presley Hawkins Statement, 6 January 1852
Know all men by these presents that I Presley Hawkins of Taylor County and State of Va am held and firmly bound unto Oliver Carder in the penal sum of two thousand dollars currant money of Virginia to which sum I bind my self my heirs well and truley by these presents sealed with my seal and dated this 6th of January 1852
 
Now the conditions of the above obligation is such that if the above bound Presley Hawkins do well and truly convey unto Sd Oliver Carder his heirs or assigns in general warranty deed one hundred and thirty two and ¾ acres of land it being the land said Hawkins bought of Taylor B Norris ajoining the lands of Harrison Goodwin and Hiram Linn and others on the watters of Lost run uppon the payment of one thousand dollars good and faithful currant money of Va then this obligation to be void else to remain in full force and virtue &c as witness my hand and seal this 6 day of January 1852
