Laurence District dear brother and sister i drop you a fiew lines to let you no that i am well at this time hoping thees fiew lines may reach you and find you all well i was sorry to hear that henry was dead but that is the fruits of war i can inform you that my man is at home with mee and is a crippel for life he has bin a prisner nearly nine months but got home the last day of march all the connection is well so fare as i no i have nothing of importance to rite to you at this time times is hard in this country i want you to rite to mee as soon as you get this you may be shore i was a proud woman when J. C. Brown landed at my dore he is as pretty as he ever was and ten times / sweeter i sympathise with you for the loss of henry but i hope and trust he is gon home to heaven wher there is no sickness nor sorrow nor war to be felt and feard this world is one of sorrows at best may god be with you all in this world and after death save you all in heaven is my prair So no more at presant
