My dear friend it is with grate pleasure that I seat my self to write you a few lines in reply to yours which I recivd with joy you dont no how glad I was to hear from you all. maney is the time I think of the past times that we have spent to gather but little did we think that we ever would see such times as we have I was truly sory to hear of the death of your dear sons poor little Henry I all ways liked him I hope that he is at rest wher there is no war but rest sweet rest. I recivd a letter from John yesterday he was well & doing well and at the same place you dont no how glad I would be to see you I would squeeze you good I want to see all the children tell Mr. Riddle houday for me. tell Ann I do wish that we livd clost to gather so that she could stay all nite with / me & see a heap of fun like we usto John thout so much of Ann he talked a heap a bout you all pick me out a good home close to you when the war end if John lives to get back we will go to it. if I could see you I could tell you a heap the troubles and hardships I have seen cence I saw you tell Bery I was glad to hear that he has grod so much tell him I would be glad to see him. tell pery & Matty to be good little boys Mary sais givi sends her love to you all and sais kiss Matty for her I must close write soon and often I would be glad to hear from you evry day but would be a heap glader to see I remain your friend untill death
