Caroline Boswell
Caroline Boswell was born around 1839 in North Carolina to Thomas Boswell and Elizabeth Yancey. Her father was a farmer who owned $2,730 of real estate and $9,400 of personal property in 1860. Carolina grew up in Caswell County, North Carolina, and she married Charles D. Donoho there on May 8, 1861. Their daughter Ann Elizabeth was born on February 23, 1863. Charles joined the Confederate army in November 1863 and was fatally wounded in the Battle of Plymouth in April 1864. Caroline returned to her parents’ household after her husband’s death, and by 1870, she reported owning $120 of real estate. By 1900, she was living with her nephew Bedford Boswell’s family in Caswell County. She died in Caswell County on October 5, 1911.
