Dear Sir

           The enclosed is a copy of a communication which I received on the 15^th inst from the Chief of Ordnance. In answer to my returns which abstract you saw &c

 

            I see no way for me to get out of it unless your influence is brought to bear on the subject matter by sending your Invoices of the Arms & Equipments & your signed receipts for the same so that I can make out another set of returns & send in &c

 

            Will you interest yourself in the matter involved & inform me at the earliest opportunity & oblige
