Francis J. Parker to Unknown, 15 February 1866
Boston Feb. 15. 1866.

My dear Sir
On the other side of this sheet I hand you a statement of the various amounts expended from my the fund constituted by my pay as an officer since May 14th 1863 where as I stated to you there remained 1200 $. The balance now you will see is $552.01 which amount I propose to turn over to the "32d Regt Association" as a part of their "Fund" for similar purposes.

The matter had no necessary connection with your official position but it is a point of personal honor with me to show you personally that I have redeemed my promise to myself to serve at very [?] charge & that none of the money received by me from the Pay Department has been used for my personal advantage beyond the pleasure of promoting the comfort & fellowship of my comrades, and that your first volunteer has at least in this respect done no violence to your confidence.

Allow me too, now that you are again a citizen, to [?] my expression of thanks for your many acts of kindness and for the great trust which you placed in the hands of one who had been your political opponent and also to tell you how warm is my esteem for yourself and how hearty my appreciation of your public service and official ability and purity. I pray you always to remember me as one who desires to work as your friend

am very respectfully yours,    F J Parker

[side margin]

I have lost [?] of some 3 months of payments in 1865 and therefore put in only two items for which I have receipts.
