Hd Qrs. Pratts Batl Artly
In the field Sept. 6th 1864
Major.
I desire most respectfully to call your attention to the condition of the horses of this batl. Many in fact most of them have been in the service for a long time and are worn out, and from hard marching in past two weeks and want of shoeing; their feet are worn off so much that unless some thirty horses can be furnished very soon, the guns will have to be abandoned. I respectfully urge that that number be supplied at once.
I am Major
Very Respectfully

I have examined with close attention
the condition of the horses in Maj
Pratt Battn of Artillery, and find
their condition even worse than he
states it and would most respectfully
suggest that the urgency of this want
in the Batt. requires the immediate
attention of the Maj Gen Comding Div
and that the deficiency be supplied
at once. Jno B Clark[?]
