Joseph H. Pratt
Joseph H. Pratt was born around 1817. He worked as a railroad builder in East Texas.
 
In March 1862, he received a commission as captain of the 10th Texas Field Battery. The regiment served in Texas and Arkansas, “harassing Union vessels on the Arkansas and Mississippi Rivers.” Pratt was promoted to major in early 1864 and assigned to the 2nd Horse Artillery Battalion. He took part in General Sterling Price’s Missouri expedition in late 1864. He was wounded on October 26, 1864, and he died soon afterward.
