Well Farther I eceved letter from you and was very glad to hear from you it caim to day it is pretty cold hear now but I hav got a good tent and a good stove in it and plenty of wood and if I dont keep warm it is my one falt there was a lot of new rcruts caim hear and to of them froz to death they had nothing to lay on but blanket to lay on but I lay warm my bount I shall send homb 250.00 dollars and I want you to pay my detts and then you tak / the rest of it and use it for your self and dont put any of it in the banck for I want you to tak it and pay for the house and when I comb homb I shall hav no ones house to go in to but yours and i shall comb some timb timb within 2 years I cant thinck of any more this timb so good by

I like soldier ing I like / it first rait There was 2 boys froze to death hear last week but they had to lay on the ground but I hav got good houces maid out of bords we are agoing to leav next week when I git to washington I will wright to you and hav you send me a box I grow fat Mother I weigh 140 lbs and I like to soldire first rait when I send my bounty I want you to pay my dets and then you take the rest and use it for to pay for the houcs / I thought it was the best thing that I could do to enlist I hav got cold but it is geting bettre now I cant thinck of any more this timb so good by this from your son William Harvey
 
            Well Martha Jane you rot to me in that letter and was glad to hear from you when I get to washington i will wright to you and hav you send me a box and hav you send what you want to and I will send you somthing I cant wright much this from your Brother W W Harvey
