Dear Wife
I do not know as I shall have time to write much this morning but I will try and do the best that I can
I recd your letter that was mailed the 18th day before yesterday as usual I was very glad to get it for I am always anxious to hear from home
I got at the same time one from Mr Reynolds and one from Jennings and the Rural & Syracuse paper that you sent me. Mr Reynolds letter as usual was full of kindness & well wishes he is one of the most kind men that I ever knew. He expresses a wish for me to come home which I shall try to do as soon I get paid again we are to be mustered for pay to day and I hope that during next week we shall be paid and then if I cannot come and bring it I will send it to you as soon as possible but I hope that I can come myself for I want to see you all again
I wrote you in my last letter that I thought that Jo Rush had gone to the Regiment but he has not he was here to see me yesterday, is as well as usual. He got the picture of his folks that they sent him it was some what jammed up but yet showed very well
I cannot see what is the matter with Jennings. I never received such a letter from him before. it is very short he merely says that they have been sick but does not say if they are now or not and then he says that he got my last letter / written some four or five months since taking it all to gether it is rather a strange letter
I will close this for this time and hope that when I write again that I can give you a better letter than this
Write as often as you can
To yours as Ever

(PS)
tell lilly that if I do not get a chance to come home that I will write to her in a few days
