Gen U.S.A. Marine Hospital Oct 1st/64
Dear Wife
I will write you another short letter this morning although as usual I have not much to write. But I can say that I have recd yours of Sept 12th
It done me good to read it and to learn that you were well
My health is improving now quite fast and I feel pretty smart and I think that under the circumstances it will gain faster. I have been paid off again and will send you in this letter ten dollars and the rest I will try and bring to you myself. If nothing happens to prevent it I shall start for home from here about the 15th of this month. this time I saw my furlough made out and it is now at head Quarters for approval I think that it will be back to morrow and then the first good transport that leaves here for the North I shall go on / board of for home
I could go sooner by going on a mail steamer but that would cost me $40. while I get my passage free on a government vessel or transport
I will write again before I start for home
Since I wrote to you last Jo Rush has started for home on furlough he started last Monday and will probably be at home before you get this letter
But I must stop for this time Perhaps you had not better write again unless you hear from me to that effect Keep up good courage
My respects to Mr Reynolds & family
Yours as Ever
L. V. Tucker
