Dear Wife
As I agreed to write to you again before I left here for home, I will do it this after noon, as the Mail Steamer Yazoo leaves here for New York to morrow morning and probably there will not be another leave before I do if there is I will send you another letter by that

I have my furlough now or rather it is here in the office ready for me whenever there is a government boat ready to go The Steamer Catawba I think will leave here next Saturday for New York, and I expect to go on her She may leave sooner than that or it may be some days after before she starts I cannot tell the precise day of her starting yet. But do not expect me to soon or not until I come Something may detain me for several days from that time or it may take longer to come than we expect. So do / not look for me under 3 weeks yet and if I do not get there within that time you will get another letter from me

My health is still improving as the cool weather agrees with me better than the hot and I hope that my visit home will still improve it

But I will close for this time
and Believe me

I Remain as Ever yours
L. V. Tucker

(PS)
I sent you in my last letter ten dollars
