New Orleans La April 28th 1865.
 
Dear Wife
            I shall write you a short letter this morning although I wrote to you night before last but I promised to write to you as soon as I got my pay and as I got that last night I must write this morning as the mail leaves here to morrow morning for New York. I shall send you $20. in this now and another to Mr Reynolds at the same time with $10. in that & as there is another mail goes North next Tuesday I shall send you both the same amount then & then and then will send the rest by the next mail after. I hope that you will get it all right
 
            But I have no time to write any more now for I want to write a short letter to Mr Reynolds this morning
