George Y. Weimer to Unknown, undated
...were here to see me cook & wash, but thank fortune we will have it better next spring. If I live to get back again I shall then let some one else try it 9 months. Do not think I am dissatisfied with soldiering. I would not come home now if I could.
We expect to get into a battle evry day and I think that the next one will be the decisive one and would to god it may. I think we will get home in about four months for it would not be policy for the government to give us winter quarters and then in the spring when we could do something send us home to get our bounty Yesterday we got 27.00 25.00 State bounty and two dollars premium for enlisting.
I have now received 77.00 besides 26.00 / wages coming to me which make 103 dollars in two months besides our clothes & board rather good wages that.
I hope sister brother and the whole family are well I would dearly love to come a few weeks to see you all but as that is impossible I am conteted with my lot.
I hope you will write often for a letter from a friend allways welcome to a soldier
