Dear Sister I [paper hole] hear yesterday morning after a hard ride of 16 dayes I had very good luck with the horses my hors and Mr Edmundsons was sick too or three dayes on the road they did not eat any thing for several dayes I could not see any thing the matter with them
 
            there is no news stiring in camp Some of the boys have tents and some have cabins there is no sign of winter quarters our brigad is heare for the purpose geting forage it is imposable for us to get any fodder or hay corn is all we can get for our horses lewis is heare yet & some 15 others with ought horses General Leea sayes he will not let but one go at a time it is uncertain when Lewis will get of
 
            Mr Edmontson got my satchel down safe with my clothes you can say to father that that Mr Sneed wants to buy that hors of mine and I think we had best let him go he charged Catron / had to pay $20.00 per month in sted of [torn away] 12.00 our contract so I wil have to pay for 2 months and probabley three before I can get him a way Charley Greg has gon back home I expected to get him to to take my hors home when he went I did not see Mr Sneed my self he said to Catron that he would give $150.00 for him I think he will give more it will cost me a bought $75.00 to pay the express on him home I want him to let me know if I shall sell him or not Charles Greg started with lewises horse and got him fast in a bridge and got his leg hurt so he could not travile an had to leade him he was offered $125.00 for him tell father to get him a horse and he will get to come after him in a short time him and cousin Charles will get home as soon as all the other boyes gets back Lewis onley got his boots a day or too a go he got a pare of boots from Corby that done him very well I will close for this time your brother
