Wilber H. Wells
Wilber H. Wells was born around 1835 in DeKalb County, Georgia, to Willis and Drucilla Wells. His father was a farmer who owned $3,800 of real estate and $800 of personal property. Wells grew up and attended school in Browning, Georgia, before beginning work as a farmer. He enlisted in the Confederate army on April 10, 1862, and mustered in as a private in Company F of the 36th Georgia Infantry. The regiment was stationed in Tennessee and Mississippi, and it was captured in July 1863 after the siege of Vicksburg. Wells apparently fell ill during the siege, and he was paroled on July 15, 1863, in a Vicksburg hospital. He died on July 23, 1863.
