            Dear Sister I wright you a few lines to let you know that I am well & have returned to the Companey I expect I will get a furlough in a few dayes to come home for a hors from what I have heard it will be quite a difficult matter for me to get a horse at this time I understand that gen Longstreat is pressing all the horses in the country I hope father will get me a hors soon
                                   
it will not be longer than too weeks before I will get home I have be trying to come for a great while I recon I will have a good furlough when it comes there is no news to wright to you at this time Every thing is quiet at this time & I hope it will remain so for some time to come Gen Grant is in command of the Fedral forces at this time he will be for / makeing a move pretty soon if the wether will admit of it
                                   
I will close for this time hopeing these lines may find you all well give my respects to all my friends & my love to Father Mother & Sister & beleive me as ever your True Brother
