Dear Brother
            yours of the 26th last month came to hand last night it found us all well I am getting along pretty well considering the weather &c My foot is healing up quite fast I think it will be healed over in another week or to at least the galls pester me so I cant get along as fast as I would if there was none abought
                                   
There is no news of any consiquence Gen. Morgan was burryed in Abingdon to day he wa suprised at Greenville sunday night that is all I have heard of the affair we havent heard the particulars of the afair yet
                                   
it is reported that Atlanta has fallen in to the hands of the enemy we have no official report of it yet nothing said of our loss Great excitement through the country abought peace but I do not credit any thing I heare abought it Democratic Nomine for president is not very favorable to us I dont think if Abram dont get mad an make peace before McCleland is put in the Presidents Chare our chance is a bad one I dont thin he will offer any tearms that we can except at this time or at any time here after our onley alternative is to clean ought the Yankey armey that is in the field at this time & by that time we will have no armey & so / we will be obliged to make peace on some terms our onley hope is that the peace men will resist the draft at the North it is reported that they are determined to do so if they do & Abe failes to fill up his ranks this fall he will be obliged to offer & armistes
                                   
I was sorry to hear that the Capt was hurt I hope his hurts are not serious I was glad to here that Will Montgomery was to badley hurt
                                   
all the girles are well old Marney Stewart was down to see me yesterday evening She made me laugh till I like to busted rite affore her Give my love to Charles & tell him to right to me soon I will have to close for this time it is getting so dark I cant se the paper let alone seeing a line
