Ethel Franklin Leeman was born on March 19, 1880, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Banford Leeman and Rosamond Twombly. Her father worked as a carpenter. She grew up and attended school in Boston, and she married Charles F. Sargent on June 1, 1907. Their son Charles was born around 1915. They lived in Quincy, Massachusetts, and her husband worked as a salesman. She died in Quincy on February 20, 1948.
