            Dear Aunt
                                    I am some better than I was I have had my side blistered it it was very severe but it has helped me I do not cough half as much as I did before the blister was applied.
 
            our Brigade left to day for nashville or Viccburg I dont know which they went down the river on boats so it is hard to tell where they have gone Jim was in good health the last time / I seen him which was only the other day we were very much disapointed about having to leave our winters I think I will be able to go to the regt in a month at least or perhaps sooner we have a very nice place to stay here a good bed and prety fair grub our nurses are very attentive I take a walk every day and enjoy the sunshine and the fresh air which does me a great deal of good Louisville is a very nice city and a large one to
 
            there has been no deaths in this hospital since I came here and there / are about 300 men in in it mostly the wounded from pr[?]ville fight Some of them have lain on their backs for three months and never been out of bed we I believe I have wrote all that I can think of this time So I will bring my letter to a close you must excuse this bad writing for I am so weak that I almost hate to take hold of a pen any more give love to uncle thany and the boys and to all our friends and neighbors and with a very few words I / will close I gave you the directions in my other letter but for fear you do not get it I will give them again this is the directions
