Dear aunt
Dear aunt it is with pleasure that that I sit down to write you a few lines to let you know how I am. I have been worse for the last three or four days but am hapy to let you know that I am much better since yesterday before last night I did not sleep any for three nights my cough was so bad but last night I enjoyed a good nights rest of about five hours sleep if I could get that much every night I would be / very well satisfied
I still make out to run around the yard and sometimes out into the country the loos of sleep cut me down more than any thing I have been troubled with lately even worse than the cough. I thought I should have had an answer before this time from the other three letters that I wrote to you if I do not get an answer soon I shall begin to think that you have forgotten to write to me for it is three weeks to day since I have had a letter from you and then I got the $4,50 in the two letters that was the day before we left / Camp Ruthudell. I do not know where our regt is now for I have not heard from it since I left Louisville
I would like to know if any of are comming to see me or not if you dou dou be sure and bring me a small box of provisions such as some good buiscuit. only a few of them for we have plenty of light bread and I want a few for a change and I want some of your best pies that you can bake that is all I want of bread kind but I want a couple or three cans of peaches the kind that uncle Sam sent me and some butters of different kinds and a little jelly of some kind you know better what to bring or send than I do and one thing more I want some good apples for I can eat what ever I please and I have as good an appetite as I / have when well. the weather is cold here and every thing froze but it is much pleasenter than to have mud and rain.
I believe I have given you all the news that I know of which is very little I wish you would send me a newspaper once and a while so that I can hear some news for I never see a paper here
Give my love to Uncle thany and the boys and to our neighbors and friends I do not think that I will get away from here for a month yet no more at present
