My Dear Mother—
I wrote father a few days since asking him to send me $2500 Green Backs by mail immediately. Henry, with other officers came from Savannah yesterday, & are in an adjoining enclosure. He is well. Please send me a box immediately addressed to me, here, "Care Gen Foster, Hilton Head &c" The box must contain no provisions, or liquors, (for they are not allowed) but other articles as follows. One pr dark blue pants; one blanket; 2 shirts, woolen; 2 pr red flannel drawers, 2 pr socks, one vest (old or new), one military cap (size 7¾); Brush & large comb: Paper, Envelopes, ink & pens; old books, papers etc: thread, needles, pocket knife & a yard cotton drilling, 2 towels, soap, caseknife, fork & spoon, small iron frying pan, with handle; 3 quart tin pail; & deep baking pan; 2 earthen plates & 2 tin cups; pills, Seidlitz powders & Jamaica Ginger, 2 handkerchiefs, & 2 doz 14½ paper collars. I had to dispose of my coat some time ago; & I would like to have Wilkins make me a uniform Jacket small buttons, well padded, & the coat sleeves should be lined with fifty Hussey. Henry is well supplied with clothes but needs underclothes &c I believe. You had better send to him in separate box, as I might not be able to communicate with him. Send the money by mail also the box as soon as possible. We are pretty well fed and treated here. I have not heard from home since June: but letters money &c are beginning to come in now.
